Proofreading experience

I keep my proofreading clients private, but to help you gauge my experience here's a list of some of the things I have proofread in the past.

Assignments

I've witnessed first-hand the power that good spelling and grammar have on the grades of university assignments, and that's how I got the idea to help students benefit from my proofreading.

Having studied a range of subjects I'm relatively well-versed in the sciences and the humanities. Besides having majored in writing and editing, I've studied Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Politics, and History. It's safe to say I'm literate not only in day-to-day English, but also in academia. I'll help you communicate your work in a way that not only gets the point across, but does so in a refined manner. I'll check spelling and grammar, and in addition find ways to make your hard work read a little better. Got facts and figures and subject-specific jargon? Don't worry - I studied Zoology remember?

CVs

If we had to narrow down the one thing you don't want to mess up, it has to be your Curriculum Vitae. It's the document you'll be using to sell yourself to prospective employers for the rest of your life. One spelling error and your name is off the list; poor word choice and you're forgotten.

I'll help you with everything from spelling to choosing the right words to make your CV the one employers remember.

Social media captions

Social media offers a world of opportunity for businesses when it comes to marketing. You're able to connect with niche markets easily, promote your business affordably, and establish a unique identity all on a handful of platforms.

As with every other business platform, it's important to keep your copy polished. You need to look out for errors, prime your content for maximum engagement, and stick to a relatively consistent brand voice and style. Let's work together to get your voice consistent, effective, and proper.

Emails

In 2019, over 293 billion business and consumer emails were sent and received per day. Needless to say, they're an important tool for daily life. We use emails to approach employers, colleagues, and customers, and just like everything else, they need to be professional and targeted for them to succeed in their mission, whatever that may be. Correct spelling and grammar go a long way, but when it comes to emails, you need to consider the choice of wording and enlist effective calls to action to truly make the most of them.

Contact me to write or proofread emails for you. I work with anything from personal emails to professional communications or marketing email campaigns.

Menus

Call me a stickler for details, but nothing seems as silly and avoidable as a spelling error on a menu. While they can make for hilarious conversation, you don't really want your business to be the butt of the joke at a table of diners. I'll proofread your menu, so you'll never be the fool again.
